creepers may be good aesthetically, but i think harry has written in his blog saying that climbers:
1. provide some easy spiderman for thieves
2. is habitat to ants and insects which may cause your BH to be filled with unwelcome crawlers, hence Birds feel threatned
3. cavities may cause growth of "wild-trees" through airborne seeds and these wild trees may have mighty roots and cause problem to your successful BH.
i too am building a BH in pahang and is happy with plastered wall and perhaps a coat of weathershield paint.
